A great football game...

DANG! You all know I am a UGA fan, but what a game. Last night the University of Tennessee staged one of the best comebacks I have ever seen. In the first half of the UT v. LSU game, the Bayou Bengals put a certified whoopin' on the Volunteers of Tennessee. At half-time the Vols found themselves down 24-7. And that score does not show how bad the beating was. LSU's defense had absolutely shut down UT's offense. The second half was a totally different story though. In the second half, UT changed quarterbacks, and it seems teams. The Vols moved the ball down the field, and scored at will. Pictured is Gerald Riggs Jr., the man that carried the Vols to victory. In the first overtime period, Riggs carried the ball, and Tigers on his back all the way to the endzone. What a game, what a comeback! I can only hope that Tennesee doesn't play this well against my DAWGS!

Ahhhh, just like the old days...

As most of you know, I was a public school teacher for four years before I made the trip to Fort Worth to persue my Master's Degree. Well, my four years teaching, though they were full of some great experiences and people, were for the most part full of anquish and frustration. Well, I have made the jump back into the education field lately. I have accepted a position as a tutor at a charter school here in Fort Worth. Well, let me tell you; things don't change very much. Today, I broke up my first fight in four years. I did not miss that at all, and hope to never have to do it again.

Today's events have gotten me to thinking. You know God makes us each and every one for special purposes. Some are more noble than others, but each one has a purpose none the less. Maybe my purpose in life is to do the grungy duties. Maybe I was made for breaking up fights and bringing calm to turbulent places. I don't know, I'm just thinking.

The clutz strikes again...

So, the clutz has struck again. Yesterday, I had one of my little accidents. I was sitting in my office playing with a pair of vice grips. ........Yeah, you can imagine, I squeezed the grips, not knowing the tip of my finger was in the way. In case you are not familiar with Vice grips, the premise behind them is that they clamp onto and hold whatever you clamp them on. Let me tell you, this fat boy is a lot faster than you know. I yanked those grips off really fast when that pain shot through my finger. To be completely honest it was not the best feeling I have ever felt, but not nearly as bad as the fingers squished in the door jamb.

A Great Mom...

Hey gang, this is my Mom, Frances McKinney. She is a wonderful woman. I don't know if anyone else can say this but I can: There has never been a time in my life when I did not know that my Mother loved me. My mother always told me she loved me, and showed me she loved me with affirming words, and acts of love. To this day, my Mom still shows me she loves me. She is constantly sending me letters, two or three a week; to let me know how things are in my hometown. She also sends me clippings from the newspaper back home. And, she always tells me that she loves me and misses me in her letters. I don't know about you, but I have been blessed by God with a wonderful Momma. If you have been blessed as I have, call or write your Momma and tell her so! You're not too busy!

(Wicked Props to my Nephew Patrick {5yrs old} for taking this picture!)

How many Master's degrees does it take to open a sliding glass door?

Hey Gang, I went to see Geo over in Garland last night. We went to watch the Virginia Tech game with the DFW VA Tech Alumni association. It was a blast. We ate, watched the game and I litterally made a fool of myself. (You'll have to check Geo's blog for the story.) It was great getting to see Geo once again.
As most of you know, when Geo and I hang out there are many stories that need to be told afterwards. This meeting was no different. However, there will be a slight change in the way that the events of last night will be told. Usually Geo tells the stories in his own creative way, and with his own creative slant. Well, since I am the first to blog about this evening, I will write the history in a true and fair way.
Bonnie and I went to Geo's apartment for a little pre-game chit chat and to check out his new apartment. We walk into Geo's second floor apartment to the usual greetings and Geo begins to show us around. We get to see the living room, the kitchen, the workout room, etc. Then Geo takes us outside to the balcony. Well, we all get out on the balcony, and Geo proceeds to close the door. When Geo closes the door, the security bar on the inside of the sliding glass door falls into place, and locks us out of the house! We all begin to assess the situation. Immediately, Geo begins to think of how to get down from the balcony and to the front door. He also calls Bill and Julie to see if they can come open the door for us. The problem is that he has locked the front door with a lock that is only on the inside, so this won't work. We finally decide to try to jimmy open the door. So we look for tools and find... a pamphlet! That's right folks... a pamphlet. But luckily, with the combined intellect of three Bachelor's degrees, and several gazillion hours of Master's training we got the door open and were freed from our entrapment. Geo, there is never a dull moment with you around!
